CD-S7 DAC

The abbreviation DAC already suggests that it is possible to transfer external digital signals (optical, coaxial or USB) to the excellent Burr-Brown D/A converter PCM 1796, thus profiting from the fantastic analogue signal processing. The analogue signal is output fully symmetrically and processed along the signal route by means of vacuum tubes.

The Best Made Better

For almost over one decade the Vincent CD-S6MK was the showcase model of the Vincent CD series. Hardly any other competing models could hold a candle to this device in this price class.

In order to take this technical development into account, the time has come to present a successor: With the CD-S7DAC, the virtues of the CD-S6MK have been transferred and supplemented through the possibility of using the device as standalone DAC in addition.

Now digital signals can be processed via either the optical, coaxial or USB-port in order to profit from the outstanding analogue signal processing of the CD-S7 DAC further. Thanks to the D/A-converter, the revered PCM1796, your digital signal sources will now reach approximately the sound quality of a CD.

The Tube Gap

The characteristics of valve amplifiers have been known for a long time. Their sound has supporters in the world of hi-fi devices and performance amplifiers. Despite their popularity and the unique sound that comes with them, transistors are much more robust and durable as amplifier components. Even in audio source devices, there are amplifier circuits and with these too, the sound can be greatly improved by sophisticated amplifier circuitry. Today this approach is taken by only a few select manufacturers. Vincent is proudly one of these manufacturers.

In the CD-S7DAC, Vincent uses a type 6922 Russian tube, through which the sound is benefitted enormously. The benefits to your music's transparency and the spatiality become clear after the first note.

Vacuum tubes in hi-fi amplifiers are highly revered, and a sign of high manufacturing quality. Vincent takes their visual aesthetic just as seriously as the performance of their products. Because of this, Vincent has included a tube-viewing port on the front panel of their tubeLine products. With a switch on the back, you can switch the backlight on or off.

Diverse connections

A USB input, optical and coaxial digital audio inputs allow a myriad of sources to make use of the DAC. A high-quality 1/4" output allows you to make use of the processing benefits of this player, and hear it in clear detail in your favourite headphones. As well as the standard RCA outputs, a special property of this player is the balanced XLR audio outputs. As well as this, for connecting to a digital amplifier, a digital coaxial output is included. This range of output connection options enables you to create a system with unrivaled sound and performance quality.

State-of-the-art components

In order to read out the digital signals of a CD, the Sanyou Chip DA11 is used. The software for this has been developed on its own and stands for a secure reading of all the CDs. However, this complexity is relatively of less use, if the signal is not further processed well below.

Also, the power supply has been improved. For the supply of the power, a toroidal transformer has been used. In the power supply, a 6Z4, as well as a 12AX7 tube, ensure the supply of the necessary voltages. This allows the stable playback and superb performance you'd expect from a CD Player and DAC of this caliber.

The Perfect Match

The CD-S7DAC is the perfect match for the rest of Vincent's tubeLine range!

Shown below is the CD-S7 (non-DAC version), integrated with the SA-T7 Pre-Amplifier and two SP-T700 Power Amplifiers.

With all your Vincent appliances working together in harmony, controlling them all is painless with the “Power Control” connections on the rear. These allow the amp to respond to turn-on and turn-off signals from other devices in the signal chain.
