Exeger and Mayht's Light-Powered Speakers are a Glimpse Into the Future

In the audio tech industry, Dutch startup Mayht's new speaker technology called Heartmotion is on the tip of everyone's tongue. The company has completely redesigned speaker drivers as we know them. Heartmotion speakers are dual-membrane, producing opposing vibrations that make the speakers completely self-balancing. This innovative design will allow for speakers that are much more compact, energy-efficient, stable, and lightweight than the ones we use today.

Last year, Mayht teamed up with Swedish deep tech company Exeger and released a prototype for a fully light-powered speaker at the 2022 CES. Exeger is the developer of Powerfoyle, a pioneering material that converts all forms of light into clean energy. In addition to creating energy anywhere there is ambient light, outdoors or indoors, Powerfoyle is flexible and able to be seamlessly formed into products without compromising aesthetics.

The combination of these two technologies is nothing less than groundbreaking. Exeger and Mayht's bluetooth speaker is fully light-powered, making it the world's first truly wireless speaker with infinite playtime. These new features go beyond the limitations of conventional speakers, making infinite battery life and new levels of portability possible.

One particularly impressive thing about this speaker is its size. Seriously, if you haven't seen this speaker yet, check it out. And if you're doubting that a speaker that small can sound good, you've underestimated these companies. Heartmotion drivers are specifically designed to produce a full range of frequencies, including deep, clear bass, in a small package. So this speaker is not only small enough to literally fit in your pocket, but it can produce the sound quality of a conventional speaker about ten times the size.

Additionally, the self-balancing drivers means no excessive vibrations. In conventional speakers, manufacturers must add significant weight to the cabinet to absorb vibrations and stabilize the speaker -- something that is no longer necessary with Heartmotion. This means speakers that are more lightweight and don't require as much material.

Unsurprisingly, everyone involved in this project is excited about it. Giovanni Fili, the CEO of Exeger, believes that this product has "the potential to change the way we listen to music." He says, "together we are setting a new standard in the speaker market with an endless listening experience from amazing sounding speakers."

Mattias Scheek, Chief Executive at Mayht, shares similar sentiments. "Co-creating this self-powered speaker with Exeger is one example of how our Heartmotion speaker technology can bring until now unimaginable, high quality, full-range sound experiences including full bass spectrum to the sot compact everyday consumer electronics and automotive audio systems. Our vision is to make Heartmotion the new industry standard for speaker driver technology, making the best sound quality accessible to the masses."

Since the release of this prototype, Mayht has made further developments in bringing Heartmotion to the public. They were fully acquired by Sonos in early 2022, suggesting a future market release of speakers that utilize Heartmotion drivers. Although Sonos hasn't released any details about upcoming releases, the audio world is keeping our eyes and ears peeled for the next Sonos product.
