What's new with the Vincent SV-737
If you're familiar with Vincent's range of Hi-Fi equipment, you'll know that the German brand moves slowly but surely, not caught up in trends or gimmicks.

Not seen on any Vincent model until now, the SV-737 features WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. The SV-737 can be connected to your home network via the WiFi function, meaning it can support streaming and, for example, play music files stored on a NAS. In addition to this large step forward for the manufacturer, the SV-737 sets new standards in terms of circuitry. The SV-737 is an integrated amplifier with two amplifier sections – pre-amplifier and power amplifier – that have been matched perfectly to one another. "Perfectly" here indicates that the combination of both amplifier characteristics ensures maximum transparency and spectral stability for the audio output. Keywords for technicians here include ear-friendly spectrum with k2 dominance in the typical dynamic range with regard to frequency and power.

Vincent SV-737 Hybrid Integrated Amplifier review

"This amplifier has a clean, detailed top end, somewhat sweet midrange (those tubes aren't there just for looks) and a lower end that captures the ebb and flow and power of dynamics with very good control better than a lot of amplifiers I have heard regardless of price. This aspect of its sound is what makes this amp truly exciting and fun to listen to. The styling is very nice, its loaded with features and it is built like the proverbial you know what."

Amplification technology designed by experience
Both amplifier sections feature recent developments and include design concepts borrowed from established Vincent models.

From the popular SA-T7 preamplifier, the basic principle of two gain blocks with embedded, switchable tone control has been adopted for the SV-737's tube pre-amplifier section. Also from the SA-T7, the proven regulation of the high voltage for the tube amplifier has been adopted: A voltage reference tube 85A2, originally developed for professional measurement technology, provides a low-noise and almost hum-free supply voltage in combination with a semiconductor regulator.

In the power amp section, in contrast to the SV-237MK, an additional tube system has been provided per channel, so that now two double triodes per channel with a total of four vacuum tubes are in use. The voltage amplification is provided by the 6N2P-EV manufactured according to military specifications, which has a characteristic curve that is similar to the well-known ECC83 or 12AX7 yet more linear. In addition, the 6N2P-EV is particularly low-microphone and low-noise. With its high-current cathodes, the 6N1P takes over the function of the driver and buffer stage in the proven manner.

Plenty of clean power on tap
The power amplifier is based on the system in the SV-237MK integrated amp, but some important details have been further developed. For example, the circuitry of the input cascade has been optimised to ensure even better transient response of the output stage when operated at demanding levels.

The output power has also been increased. The SV-737 has 180W of power on tap for 8-ohm loads. Switch to Class A mode for an incredibly clean 10W per channel. These developments combined with the tube pre-amplifier, the result is a reproduction spectrum similar to that of very good single-ended triode amplifiers – at a much higher level of performance and purity.

As is expected with heavy-duty Vincent amps, large cooling fins run down the sides of the unit which aid in evenly distributing heat during intense operation.

Do it your way
Despite the carefully designed combination of both amplifier parts, the connection between these amplifiers can be disconnected externally and, if necessary, an external DSP can be inserted for room correction. Due to the output impedance of the tube preamplifier, which is again significantly reduced compared to that in the SV-237MK integrated amp, it can provide a neutral sound when driving common connection cables and input impedances, e.g. of the DSP.

The best of both worlds
The characteristics of valve amplifiers have been known for a long time. Their sound has supporters in every realm of music production and enjoyment. Although transistors are much more robust and durable as amplifier components, valve technology very much still has a part to play in hi-fi devices.

Vacuum tubes deliver the classic “tube sound,” whereas solid-state circuitry in the output stage provides enough power to drive even the most demanding and power-hungry speakers. The tonal characteristic is both airy and dynamic. The hybrid design offers its own special charm using tubes to add warmth to the sound.

The concept of having the best of both transistors and tubes is proven true by the units from Vincent's tubeLine range. It is Vincent's belief that implementing valve amplification in at least one part of the system is hugely beneficial to the sound experience. Powerful, but with elegance, the SV-737 delivers rich tones that pull the listener into the music. To see the tubes in action, cast your eye to the port on the front of the unit. The interior can be lit with the warm light.
