Audio-Technica AT-LP7 Premium Hi-Fi Belt Drive Turntable
Audio-Technica began in 1962 as a designer and manufacturer of high-end phonograph cartridges, bringing to the audio world the innovative Dual Moving Magnet (MM) stereo cartridge with its outstanding channel separation, extended frequency response and superb tracking.
The AT-LP7 builds on this heritage. Recognising the critical role a cartridge plays in reproducing high-fidelity audio from vinyl, Audio-Technica designed this fully manual, belt-drive turntable around their VM cartridge line, incorporating the finest materials and structures in support of the cartridge's performance. The AT-LP7 comes with the VM520EB Dual Moving Magnet Cartridge with a 10 g AT-HS10 headshell and 0.3 x 0.7 mil elliptical bonded diamond stylus. The stylus can be replaced with any of the other six styli available in the VM line, giving users an easy means of upgrading the stylus without buying a whole new cartridge.

Premium Build
The AT-LP7 chassis is constructed of 40 mm-thick MDF (medium density fiberboard), which has excellent anti-vibration damping properties that limits low-frequency acoustic feedback with a sleek understated matte black finish. The sizeable platter - also finished in matte black - is made of 20 mm-thick polyoxymethylene which provides superior anti-resonance performance.
Speed Controlled DC Motor
The AT-LP7's DC motor features a specialised speed-sensor system to maintain accurate platter rotation speed during playback. A belt-drive turntable is often preferred by audiophiles and music enthusiasts due to the fact the motor is separated from direct contact with the platter, therefore minimising any slight transference of vibration or noise created by the motor.
J-shaped Tonearm
The J-shaped tone arm that takes its inspiration from the classic A-T models of the 1960s and '70s features a metallic gimbal suspension system and precision bearings to mitigate tracking errors and minimise vibration, and includes an adjustable counterweight and anti-skate system. Additionally the height of the tone arm can be adjusted from 0 mm to 6 mm to accommodate a wide variety of cartridges. Attached to the tonearm is the AT-HS10 headshell with VM520EB Dual Moving Magnet Cartridge pre-fitted.
VM520EB MM Cartridge
The VM520EB is part of the 500 Series in Audio-Technica's VM cartridge line, a line that harks back to A-T's early days as a manufacturer primarily of high-end phono cartridges, while also incorporating today's advanced technology. Like all VM cartridges, the VM520EB is equipped with dual magnets that are positioned to match the left and right channels in the stereo record groove for outstanding channel separation and extended frequency response. The cartridge's 0.3 x 0.7 mil elliptical bonded stylus tracks the record groove with high accuracy for outstanding audio reproduction.
Built-in Switchable Phono Preamp
The AT-LP7s built-in high quality phono stage makes this turntable a breeze to connect to almost any home stereo system or set of active speakers without the need for an external pre-amp or a amplifier with a dedicated phono input. There is also a switch for setting the pre-amp in MM (Moving Magnet) or MC (Moving Coil) modes to suit a variety of hi-fi and audiophile grade cartridges.
And being switchable ofcourse if your existing amplifier or hi-fi system already has a built-in phono pre-amp you wish to use you can simply flick a switch and the turntable's built-in pre-amp will be bypassed.
