Phono Pre Amps

A phono preamplifier, or phono stage, is a necessary component of a record player system. Without a preamp, the audio signal will not be strong enough to be audible coming out of your speakers. This device alters the signal coming from a turntable to make it compatible with a speaker system. Therefore it is connected to the turntable on one end, and then to speakers or an amplifier or receiver on the other end. Some turntables feature a built-in preamplifier, however these usually produce lower quality sound compared to a separate device. Even if your record player has a preamp feature, you can always choose to connect a separate preamp to improve the sound quality. Additionally, your amplifier/receiver may have a preamplifier included, allowing you to connect the record player directly to that device.
