Speaker Pins

As an alternative to banana plugs, speaker pins can be used to manually wire speaker cable throughout a hifi speaker system. They provide some protection for the connection and make installation much easier.  The AWG represents the thickness of the speaker cable; lower gauges mean thicker cable. 12 or 14 gauge is recommended for long  sections of wire or high power applications. 16 gauge or higher is more cost-effective for short and simple connections. Contrast to banana plugs, speaker pins can fit a range of speaker cable sizes, typically up to 12 AWG.
