Guitar cables (leads) are the main cables which connect your electric guitar to your amplifier. They can also be used to connect other audio equipment such as your pedal board, keyboards, mixers, bass amps etc. Constructed with single-conductor audio cable (coaxial), these shielded leads are often referred to as “ ¼ inch instrument cables”.
Every musician has their own preferences for what makes a good lead, depending on how they use them. If you’re sitting down playing, your leads won’t be under as much strain as a musician who is playing a 2 hour set on stage walking back and forward, stepping on the leads hundreds of times. You want leads that are robust, reliable and great sounding that give you a good clean connection between your equipment.
Selby pro-audio cables and leads are professional quality made with high density cable shielding for ultra-low noise, and reduced electrical interference. Leads are available in unbalanced TS (Tip/Sleeve) which is a single conductor cable and balanced TRS (Tip/Ring/Sleeve) which is a dual conductor cable.
When buying a cable, you need to decide what length will suit your needs. If it’s too long you will be tripping over all the time, if it’s too short you will struggle to reach your amp. Consider where your gear will be set up, and determine how far away you expect to move, and allow a little bit more length.
Adapters are also available to customise your leads. For example, your guitar’s input jack may be on the outside of the body which may benefit from using a right angled adapter. Consider the inputs needed at the other end of the lead also, to help determine the best angle adapter.
