In a documentary about the front man of 90s band Nirvana, Cobain: Montage of Heck is named after a grunge sound collage “Montage of Heck” Kurt Cobain created. The film includes some candid interviews with those close to Kurt, together with home videos from his childhood and later with his wife Courtney Love. This revealing documentary offers another level of insight which fans of the popular grunge idol still have a strong appetite for.
Screening on limited release, Cobain: Montage of Heck was initially the idea of Cobain’s widow Courtney Love. Directed by Brett Morgan, the project has been ongoing since 2007 with the cooperation of the extended Cobain family. Potentially considered as the most accurate documentary of the star who committed suicide in 1994, it contains unprecedented access to all of the Cobain personal and family archives.
Receiving acclaimed reviews from film festivals including Sundance, this is an emotional and moving rendition of the troubled young man who affected a large part of a generation.
Cobain: Montage of Heck is out on limited release including Village, Hoyts and Independent cinemas in Australia from May 7th
