With a lot of Hollywood clout due to his recent writing and directing successes with films like Iron Man and various TV series including The Office, Jon Favreau combines a few of his mates into his new feel good movie Chef. Robert Downey Jnr, Dustin Hoffman, Scarlett Johannsen and Sofia Vergara all join Favreau who leads the cast.

Favreau plays Carl Casper, who finds himself bored in his job as head chef in a popular Los Angeles restaurant recreating classic menus for a painful boss (Dustin Hoffman). Frustrated by a bad review from a critic, Carl starts a Twitter war which results in him losing his job after a complete meltdown on the restaurant floor.

Encouraged by his ex-wife Inez played by Sofia Vergara, Carl looks to get out of his rut and agrees to take a trip to Miami together with their son. Carl’s passion begins to be reignited as he starts up a food truck in an effort to reclaim his dreams, while piecing back together his estranged family.

Becoming somewhat of a culinary road trip Chef combines a food fantasy with a story about evolving relationships and discovering your life’s passion. Perhaps this is not a movie that you should go to hungry, because you are sure to want to take a bite of the endless dishes appearing in almost every scene.
